The No Child Left Behind Act and accountability: The neglected pupil
Article Abstract:
A worrying effect of the No Child Left Behind Act is "educational triage", which is a strategy for improving school test scores by way of classifying students and using resources accordingly. The tactic aims to improve some students' performance at the expense of others, but if teachers choose to help all their students achieve instead of giving certain pupils extra attention, they risk not only the school's survival but also their own professional reputations and even their careers.

The court and racial discrimination: The O'Connor plan
Article Abstract:
The conditions that are necessary for Justice O'Connor's plan to eventually end racial discrimination in higher education to reach fruition are examined. There is a need to reduce racial disparities in school readiness and in the successful transition to young adulthood among these conditions.
