Wendy Piatt, the director-general of the Russell Group of research elites has to tackle many fundamental issues including the future of research, teaching funding, and fees. Dr. Piatt being a former civil servant is aware of the requirements to set a government policy and intends to encourage academicians to increase their participation in the making of policy by gathering sufficient evidences from the past for its underachievement.
