The man who brought teaching in from the cold
Article Abstract:
Graham Gibbs, a guru to the learning and teaching lobby in the United Kingdom, will take up the position of director of the Oxford Institute for the Advancement of Higher Education in January 2004, a reward for his extensive research into the theory of education. Gibbs, who is frustrated at much of what the government has planned for higher education, is optimistic that teaching in the country is improving, stating that the situation is much improved from that of 1975 and that activities to improve teaching in the UK are more extensive than in any other country.
