UK gets down to the business of recruitment
Article Abstract:
An overview of the boom in business and management studies at universities and business schools in the UK. Figures released by the Association of Business Schools reveal that between 1994 and 2002 the number of students taking business studies and related subjects increased by 35%, vs a 25% increase for higher education as a whole, while the number of postgraduates taking business-related courses rose by 60%, vs 44% for the sector as a whole.

Oil patent tug of war heads for appeal
Article Abstract:
Southampton University plans to appeal a Patent Office decision to take ownership of a patent away from Offshore Hydrocarbon Mapping, one of the university's most promising spin-off companies, and award ownership of the patent to Statoil (Norway). The patent involves technology required for detecting oil reservoirs beneath the sea.
