Article Abstract:
An examination of the real meaning and ideology behind the term jihad. It is argued that jihad is a fundamentally martial concept, despite attempts by the majority of US specialists on Islam to portray it as a struggle for self-improvement and social justice. It is suggested that by misinterpreting jihad in this way, scholars are only serving to camouflage the very real armed threat that it poses to society.
