Canaries to Turkey
Article Abstract:
The 'Complete Birds of the Western Palearctic on CD-Rom' contains most of the information in the nine-volume book 'Birds of the Western Palearctic' and the more up-to-date two-volume concise edition of the work. It also has extra data including 1,000 video or sound recordings. The data in the three-CD collection is easy to access, and users can create their own bookmarks and lists of personal sightings. The set would be a cost-effective choice for libraries, but the format also allows users to consult their own copy on ornithological trips with the aid of a laptop computer.
