Young guns ditch old values

Ambitious young career-minded academics are embracing a performance-management business culture as opposed to their older colleagues who follow the traditional ideas of autonomy, collegiality and scholarship. Young academics enabled the change in academics' jobs and professional identity, viewing their profession more as a career than advancing knowledge.
