Using Media: Video and 16MM Projectors Both Belong in Media Centers
Article Abstract:
Eiki International, the manufacturer of 16mm projectors and self-contained video systems, contends that both types of equipment have a place in the educational system. Although video has some advantages, in terms of cost and its perception of being new, the 16mm projector has its own advantages. The projector can be used for large groups, is adaptable to ambient lighting, has a lower cost than professional video hardware, and films that have already been bought and paid for have a lifetime of ten years. In addition, it has been noted that students' behavior and test scores decline when only video is used. This trend can be reversed when 16mm is reinstated. Therefore, video should be used primarily for individual and small group use, while 16mm should be used for large groups.
