Aiwa sees promise in Europe for TVs, audio systems
Article Abstract:
Japan-based Aiwa Co Ltd is launching its best-selling 14-, 20- and 21-inch color television models in Western Europe in FY 1999. The company will initially ship these models to the European market from plants in the Philippines. If sales for the products increase sufficiently, and if there is a demand for models with larger screens, the company may consider manufacturing TV sets in Europe. Aiwa has been selling TVs in Eastern Europe, especially in Russia, but sales have declined in this region.
