Matsushita PDPs offer high contrast, compare well with CRTs
Article Abstract:
Matsushita Electric Industrial Company Ltd is now offering plasma display panels (PDPs) that reproduce clear white color with good brilliance and real black. These PDPs are the result of the use of the plasma adaptive brightness intensifier technology , or Plasma AI, and the real black drive system technology. These technologies solve the problem of low brightness and moving picture disturbances. Plasma AI adjusts the number of pulses at each pixel according to the average signal levels while the real black drive system automatically reduces black levels.

Asymmetric cell structure, driving innovations help PDPs match CRTs
Article Abstract:
Plasma display panels (PDPs) are expected to benefit from the increasing use of DVDs and other digital media equipment. PDPs offer several advantages over both CRTs and LCDs such as less thickness, lighter weight and easier to manufacture. Other features include 160-degree viewing angles, flat screens for distortion-free picture and do not show any bad effects from terrestrial magnetism. The global market for PDPs is projected to jump from 750,000 units in 2000 to 3.1 million by 2003.
