Baffling entertainment smorgasbord bottlenecks growth
Article Abstract:
The 20th century has witnessed an unprecedented profusion of mass forms of entertainment, such as cinema, television, movies on videotape and laser discs, video games and sound recordings on cassette tapes, compact discs and MiniDiscs. Given the unprecedented profusion of mass-media entertainment systems as well, consumers are confused on what to buy and companies are uncertain about whether or not, or when, to invest in new technologies. Entertainment electronic makers need to evaluate the information consumers have already provided and then take the lead in selecting a format that the public would embrace.

Parts makers gear up for shift to 0603 format
Article Abstract:
A full-scale production of semiconductor chips adopting the 0.6 mm x 0.3 mm (0603) format is expected in 1999 due to recent advances in related element technologies, such as packaging technologies and automotic mounting systems. Moreover, evaluation test of the chip's electrical and packaging characteristics, which are the last factors for its mass production, have already been completed by chip manufaturers.
