Information, entertainment products should pull car A/V market out of lull
Article Abstract:
The market for car audio-video (A/V) equipment is expected to grow with the spread of more advanced information technology and intelligent transportation system (ITS) products for vehicles. Within the market for car navigation systems, the percentage of products based on DVDs is increasing and car terminals are becoming more sophisticated as manufacturers expect the eventual launch of ITS capabilities. In Japan, car navigation systems and car MiniDisc players are becoming popular. Meanwhile, the worldwide market for car audios is increasing in Asia and the US.

Rear-entertainment systems, DVD products strengthen car A/V market
Article Abstract:
Automakers since 1999 have been installing a growing number of rear-seat entertainment products, which comprise CD players and LCDs in new vehicles. Also, the aftermarket for these products is growing. Thus, rear- seat audio-video (A/V) systems are starting to revitalize the entire car A/V equipment market. Recognizing this trend, manufacturers have been intensifying efforts to develop DVD-based A/V products. They hope to increase sales of A/V equipment in Asia, Europe and North America.
