CES Sneak Preview: Video
Article Abstract:
Availability of low-end color television sets and the future of the video disc are the only two potential problems for the video industry at the moment. Unit sales of color televisions are expected to pass the 15.5 million mark and VCRs should reach the 6.5 million mark. Stereo sound for television will have a large impact on both categories. There is a trend toward more user friendly VCRs. Price cutting may be in sight as foreign VCR manufacturers are building up production capabilities. Camera sales will be divided between low and high-end models. The introduction of digital television will have little effect in 1984 because of slow supply.
