Chip provides inexpensive way to reduce flicker, serves as digital gateway
Article Abstract:
Philips Semiconductors of Sunnyvale, CA, has developed a chip that eliminates flicker in conventional TV sets. To achieve this, the SAA4977H BESIC Picture Improvement Processor chip doubles the frame rate from 50Hz to 100Hz or from 60Hz to 120Hz. The chip also serves as a digital gateway for other memory-based picture enhancement processors. It also features a programmable horizontal picture compression conversion functions to display 4:3 format pictures on 16:9 screens.
