A number of utilities are working with customers in solving power quality problems, both as a customer service improvement strategy and as a pro-active means of avoiding costly transmission equipment repair. A number of products and technologies are available to ease power quality monitoring and repair.

Utilities run hot and cold on splicing methods

Cold- and heat-shrink technology have been integrated in cable installation in order to lessen the technical and operational difficulties of splicing. Heat-shrink and cold-shrink splices are inexpensive and reliable tools provided that proper installation procedures are observed.
