Dassault AT va r duire ses effectifs/
Article Abstract:
In 1998, Dassault AT expects a stable turnover compared to FFr 1.31bn in 1997 (up 6.5% over 1996) but there should be a change in the allocation as electronic transaction equipment should account for 60% of the 1998 turnover from 45% in 1997. On the other hand, the telecoms and multimedia equipment activity (TV decoders, telephone sets) should account for 40% compared to 55% in 1997. The French company suffered a delay in the design of a digital decoder which might force it to get the production actually started in the second half of 1998. Output that year should be 50,000 units or so, when the company had expected to reach 100,000 units. The company is also affected by a cut in activity in telecoms equipment as the orders have been going down 20% since 1 January 1998 due to the completion of huge export contracts worth some FFr 500mn over 1996 and 97. As a result of this, the company is to cut 110 jobs out of its 540 staff.

LOGICIELS ENFOUIS : QNX OUVRE/
Article Abstract:
QNX Software Systems has been performing well in a number of new sectors recently, including the medical, telecoms and consumer electronics sector. To deal with such sectors, the Canadian specialist in buried software products needs direct relations with the clients world-wide, contrarily to its usual business, the industry. This is why the company opened a subsidiary near Paris, in France, which was officially set up in May 1998.
