Global DWDM device market pegged at 780 billion yen

The size of the world's market for devices related to dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) reached 780 billion yen in FY2000, up 82% from FY1999. Market research firm Brain-Child Inc predicts that the market will grow 36% annually to reach 3.51 trillion by FY2005. Devices related to DWDM are for high-speed, high-capacity communications networks. The company pegs the size of the global market for DWDM equipment at 1 trillion yen for FY2000.

World electronics industry heads for Y3.4 trillion scale
Article Abstract:
A report released by the Japan Electronics Industry Development Assn forecasts that the global market for electronic and information technology products will grow from 1.7 trillion yen in 2000 to 3.4 trillion yen by 2010, with an average annual growth rate of 7%. The two biggest areas of growth will be communications equipment and computer hardware, according to the report.
