Global semiconductor sales in August set record
Article Abstract:
The Semiconductor Industry Assn reported that worldwide sales of semiconductor chips reached $18.19 billion in Aug 2000, 5.1% higher than the previous month, and 52.7% greater than the year-ago period. Higher sales resulted from strong demand for wireless communications and Internet-related services. Semiconductor sales in North and South America amounted to $5.87 billion for the month, 6.3% higher than in Jul 2000, and 50.3% higher than in Aug 1999.
