Japan takes lead in harnessing sun for residential electricity
Article Abstract:
The Japanese government's latest national project involves installation of photovoltaic power generation systems or commonly referred to as photovoltaic systems. The government's decision for installation of these systems is because of the growing concern for reducing emissions that cause harm to the environment. The demand, generation capacity and prices of these systems are discussed. The production volume of Sharp Corp., largest manufacturer, is also presented.

ISO9000 registrations in Japan nearing 20,000
Article Abstract:
The number of ISO9000 series assessment registration in Japan in 2000 hit 19,699, the Japan Accreditation Board for Conformity Assessement (JAB) reported. The JAB based its estimate on questionnaires completed by the country's quality management system assessment and registration organizations. By specific standard, 10,709 came under the ISO9001 standard, 8,993 fell under the ISO9002 standard and four related to the ISO9003 standard.
