Japanese outfits put digital A/V strategies into play
Article Abstract:
Japanese manufacturers of digital audio-video equipment are introducing new products, bolstering development programs and partnering with other companies in an effort to become global leaders. One sector that Japan will dominate is the digital video disc player market. Japanese companies are predicted to command 70% of the market, which is projected to double to 4 million units in 1999 from a year ago. Digital mixers free creativity for producing musical programs
Article Abstract:
Yamaha's philosophy in developing digital mixers has remained unchanged through the years. The company aims to provide digital mixers for an integrated sound production environment at a reasonable price. That philosophy has been incorporated in the D24, the latest digital magnetooptical multiple-track recorder model from Yamaha. The D24 records 24-bit sound on eight tracks while allowing digital domain connection with the O2R as well as project-by-project data storage and management.

Stable digital FPUs will stretch tranmission distances
Article Abstract:
TV broadcasters are shifting to digital field pick-up units (FPUs) as they migrate to digital technology. Digital FPUs offer several advantages over their analog counterparts, such as better stability and the ability to transmit images over longer distances. FPUs can also use various modulation systems such as quadrature phase shift keying and eight phase shift keying. FPUs that use the orthogonal frequency division multiplexing can transmit stable images even from under bridges.
