LH168V LCD drivers
Article Abstract:
Sharp Corp has unveiled the LH168V thin-film transistor driver with 480 output terminals, one of the biggest for its class. The LH168V reduces the number of drivers required on fine-definition LCD monitors by using 256 levels of gray scale. The driver also features a dot-reversal system for suppressing shadowing and flickering. Its output deviation is a mere -2mV, one of the lowest levels, to inhibit scattering of pixels in luminance.

Japan's IC imports slacken, especially from Asia
Article Abstract:
The volume of semiconductor integrated circuit (IC) imports into Japan has dropped 6.1% to 1.7 billion units in the third quarter of FY 1998. The plunge in semiconductor IC imports was even greater in Korea and Malaysia at 45%. In contrast, imports of semiconductor ICs from the European Union soared 50% and those from Taiwan and Hongkong increased in double digits as well.
