Machinery orders increase 11.5% in FY2003

According to a government report, Japanese machinery orders that are considered as a key measure of capital spending rose 11.5 percent to 25.4636 trillion yen in the fiscal year ended 31 March 2003. Companies including digital camera maker Nikon Corp. are boosting capital spending to meet higher demand, which would contribute to gains in machinery orders.
