Latest JVC recording idea yields digital-level images on VHS tapes
Article Abstract:
Victor Company of Japan Ltd (JVC) has developed a technology that reportedly enhances resolution of high grade (HG) and standard video tapes. Called the Super-VHS Expansion Technology, it allows standard, HG VHS tapes to achieve a picture recording capacity of 400 lines or more in resolution. It also allows VHS tapes to accomodate digital broadcast and large-screen TV images. Although the picture recording technology works with any grade of tape, JVC noted that it functions best with HG or professional-use tapes.
