Mitsubishi drafts blueprint for U.S. projection TVs
Article Abstract:
Mitsubishi Electric Corp will increase from 25%-45% in year 2000 and 65% in 2001 the percentage of digital projection TVs it sells in the US as it aims for a 65% market share. Also, the company plans to offer modules with built in high-definition television (HDTV) semiconductor chips for sets that receive HDTV signals, rather than TVs using set-top boxes, to address the issue of copyright protection. The company's US affiliate, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, expects sales of digital projection TVs to reach 2 million in fall 2000.
