New Video Era: Set Makers Unleash Stereo TV Receiver, Adaptor Lines..
Article Abstract:
With the advent of stereo television, some new acronyms are being adopted by suppliers and retailers. BTSC is the Broadcast TV Systems Committee. Multichannel TV Sound is MTS and Separate Audio Program is SAP. In 1984, MTS receivers will have a high price and be in short supply. They are expected to be priced about $300 more than mono models. Other companies with new models with SAP reception capabilities include Panasonic, Toshiba, Sanyo, and Quasar. None of these companies are producing adaptors compatible with those of other manufacturers. There is some talk about the adoption of a standard for these adaptors. Sales are expected to start out slowly.
