Panasonic LK-RV8586TZ DVD-ROM drives

Matsushita Electric Industrial Company Ltd and Matsushita-Kotobuki Electronics Industries Ltd have launched the Panasonic-brand LK-RV8586TZ DVD-ROM drive for use as a built-in peripheral in desktop computers. The drive adopts a tray system that allows vertical or horizontal installation. It also integrates an optical head and an electronic circuit with a chip set for data transmission up to 12x speed for DVD-ROMs, and up to 48x speed for CD-ROMs.

Multiple-format SD-W2002 DVD-RAM drives

Toshiba Corp's debuting SD-W2002 DVD-RAM drive can read DVD-ROMs, CD-ROMs, recordable CDs and rewritable CDs. The product is equipped with an Advanced Technology Attachment Packet Interface and conforms to DVD-RAM Format v2.1. It also has advanced-performance LSIs that accommodate 2.704KB/sec for 2x reading and writing of 4.7GB DVD-RAMs. Othe features include 8MB buffers and a 7W average power consumption.

LK-RV624DZ portable DVD-ROM drives

Matsushita Electric Company Ltd and Matsushita-Kotobuki Electronics Industries Ltd have developed portable DVD-ROM drives. The product, called the LK-RV624DZ portable DVD-ROM drive, offers data transfers at up to 6x for DVD-ROMs and up to 24x for CD-ROMs. Its body consists of a magnesium alloy that is extremely rigid and lightweight. It comes with Power 2000 software for DVD video reproduction.
