OpenTV, Panasonic join forces in interactive TV development
Article Abstract:
Matsushita Electric Industrial Company Ltd has formed a partnership with OpenTV to jointly develop an extension to the OpenTV operating platform. The two companies aim to make the extension fully compliant with the MultiMedia Home Platform and is capable of full interoperability between services, set-top boxes and television networks. Panasonic and OpenTV expect that the hardware and software of the operating platform will be ready for use in 2001.

Sharp Corp's Window LC-10RV1 10-inch LCD TV, measuring 49.5mm in thickness, features an S image input, one audio/video (A/V) output terminal and a couple of A/V inputs. Accommodating different installation units and a wireless transmission syste, the product boasts of a 100 degrees vertical viewing angle and a 120 degrees horizontal viewing angle. The Y130,000 LC-10RV1 combines various fine-picture quality circuits and features a non-glare panel.

Texas Instruments, panasonic team up for digital HDTV
Article Abstract:
Matsushita Electric Industrial Company Ltd and Texas Instruments Inc are entering a joint development agreement to create a fully digital, rear- projection high-definition TV (HDTV) using Digital Light Processing technology (DLP). The digital HDTV will be using the DLP technology of Texas Instruments for switching Digital Micromirror Devices (DMDs) on and off. SVGA-mode displays use 480,000 DMDs.
