Power this large motor from a single-phase line
Article Abstract:
Precise Power Corp. has developed a new electric motor that may be powered by a single-phase line and yet give an output of 10-60 hp. The new motor uses written-pole technology and differs from conventional motors significantly. Conventional motors have a fixed number of poles without excitation coils.

Partial discharge testing eliminates cable replacement
Article Abstract:
Partial discharge (PD) measurements have been successfully applied to cable analysis after proving their worth in gas-insulated substations and transformers. Weak sections in cable circuits are located by means of a diagnostic test method which measure PDs of sufficient energy levels.
