JVC deploys DVC as wedge to expand openings for camcorders
Article Abstract:
The Victor Company of Japan Ltd (JVC) will focus on increasing sales of its camcorders, specifically, Digital Videocassettes (DVC) for 1999. JVC initially introduced its DVC models in Europe and later, in the US. Sales of its camcorders in both regions are increasing. JVC will rely on its new DVC camcorder GR-DVX7 Digital DualCam in both markets and the GR-DVM70 in the US. The GR-DVX7 features a magnesium alloy body and a 1/4-in CCD holding 680,000 pixels. The GR-DVM70 has a digital memory card, a 1/4-in CCD, a 2.5-in LCD monitor and 2.5-in LCD viewfinder.

Matsushita aims to reform system, maps out strategies, plans

Matsushita Electric Industrial Co Ltd, for the next three years through Mar 2004, will focus on developing and marketing of tailored systems, equipment and components to provide value-added services to its customers. Called Value Creation 21, the three-year business plan is designed to increase operating profit ratio to 5% of consolidated sales. Also, the company aims to raise consolidated sales to around Y9 trillion by the end of FY 2004, and will strive to improve capital efficiency.
