Software publishers are attempting to develop unique identities in order to survive in the home computer software market. They are experimenting with new programming genres, licensing agreements and anything else that will set them apart from the competition. The new lines of products require larger investments. Survivors in the market will have to convince customers that they have the right combination of quality and creativity.

Agressive New BASF Battling for More Tape Market Share
Article Abstract:
BASF is aggressively attempting to conquer ten percent of the videotape market. Sales for the company are up to 200 percent over 1983 and the company expects to have ten percent of the market in about one year. The company predicts that the blank tape market could reach 400 million units by 1988. The company's two best selling tapes are the L-750 and T-120. The arrival of stereo TV will be a boom to the videotape industry.
