Fujitsu General sees more intense competition in PDP market

Fujitsu General is one of the first companies to manufacture plasma display panels (PDPs). It produced its first 21-inch PDP in 1993, and in 1996, launched a 42-in wide-screen PDP and a 42-in wide-screen PDP TV. The company is selling the PDS4209 model for the consumer market and a high- end model featuring the Alternate Lighting of Surface technology for businesses. The US accounts for 45% of Fujitsu General's PDP sales, followed by Europe with 35%.

Article Abstract:
Liquid Crystal Displays (LCD) were first used in electronic calculators in 1973 and for their low power consumption and high definition image quality, they are being used in many other devices like computer monitors, televisions and mobile phones. The technical developments in the LCD and its various current and future uses are discussed.
