Video sets propel JVC America to new sales highs

Victor Company of Japan Ltd has posted a record sales of over US$200 million in Oct 1999 which is an increase of 7% over the same month in 1998. The sales increase is attributable to the contributions of the in- house VCR and TV sectors and the car audio sector. The company aims to enhance its marketing activities for projection TVs in the spring of 2000 by incorporating its projection TVs with state-of-the-art displays using the Direct-Drive Image Light Amplification technology. This will be followed by the shipment of 60-in models in the US.

DV camcorders epitomize efforts to create miniature digital sets
Article Abstract:
The popularity of emerging digital formats for portable audio and video equipment has spurred the miniaturization of products such as videocassette camcorders, audio disc or minidisc players and video disc systems. The digital videocassette (DV) camcorder is a classic example of the smaller equipment that offer improved picture and sound qualities and have longer product life. Miniature DV camcorders approximate still picture cameras in size with its specifications of 370 cc in volume, 440 g in weight and 2.5-in LCDs.

U.S. audio market revves as sales surpass $8 billion
Article Abstract:
The US audio market has shown recovery in 1999, posting sales of more than $8 billion. The strong sales of audio products is attributed to large demand for in-dash compact disc players, car amplifiers, Surroud sound recorders and separate components. The biggest contribution to the sales growth, however, came from car audio products for the aftermarket, which generated $2.2 billion in sales.
