Oil costs hammer Japan's November trade surplus
Article Abstract:
The Japanese trade surplus in Nov 2000, was 598.5 billion yen, down 9.8% compared to Nov 1999. The figure represents the fifth consecutive month of decreases, according to the Ministry of Finance of Japan. The overall decrease of the trade surplus is attributed to higher crude oil prices and other factors. The Ministry anticipates no further increase in the surplus with the US because of expected decline in automobile exports from Japan to the US.
