Yield ... or else!
Article Abstract:
Semiconductor manufacturers must be able to ramp up, or rapidly increase, the production yield of semiconductor wafers and microprocessors in response to demand, or risk losing market share to rivals. Because equipment that analyzes semiconductor chip defects and contamination is so important to controlling production yields, the semiconductor testing and analysis industry is enjoying a boom. In fact, this market will likely grow from $1.2 billion in 1996 to $3.2 billion in 2001.
