Advanced control technology resurrects idea for lighter wings
Article Abstract:
Active Aeroelastic Wings (AAW) represents a re-birth of the 'wing warping' used by the Wright brothers to control the roll and bank of their first aeroplanes, but with addition of advanced control. Flexible, warpable wings are potentially lighter than stiff wings with flaps and actuators to move them, and this version is developed by NASA's Dryden Research Center in Edwards, California using a modified F/A-18A obtained from the US Navy.

Flat disks make ultimate spring
Article Abstract:
A revolutionary technology where a pair of titanium disks pressed together by shallow domes could well be the ultimate spring for heavy duty brakes or clutches is presented. Skeptics however are still not convinced that titanium spring pistons can be used for four wheelers and motorcycles but the company is going full steam ahead with further experiments and developments.
