Engineering company, Pascoe Williams, produces individually-designed machines for companies and it avoids any mistakes or misunderstandings between themselves and the customers by following formal procedures which ensure that everyone who is involved knows what is happening. The customer is clear what he wants and the designers know what is expected. All documentation is written on Microsoft Word templates and Pascoe Williams ensures that they discuss why the machine is needed, problems they expect to encounter, constraints and risk assessments.

Design makers in the UK look to India for opportunities of collaborative designs due to the large pool of manual and intellectual labor available at lower wages than the West, with a good business mindset and the ability to understand and speak English. However, customers need to take note of the possible negative effects of high staff turnover found with some service providers, which could compromise on quality.
