Aluminum castings and precision meet
Article Abstract:
Ross Aluminum Foundries adopted statistical process control techniques and acquired a Fowler Trimos Vertical 3 Measuring System from Fred V. Fowler Company Inc. to improve the accuracy and repeatability of its aluminum casting inspection processes. In the past, the company had relied heavily on manual height gages and digital scales. However, these methods proved to be incapable of coping with changes in clients' precision requirements and often resulted in product variations. With the Vertical 3, these problems were eliminated and the company gained the ability to meet tolerances as small as 0.003 inches to 0.005 inches.
