Assessing the risk business
Article Abstract:
Agreement NSC/W (the Standard Form of Employer/Nominated Sub-Contractor Agreement 1991 Edition) puts the electrical contractor at some risk but also has benefits regarding payment to the unnominated contractor for precontract work. The nominated subcontractor will have to guarantee the design, purchase of material and build of components and should ensure that his insurance will cover him against any claims. The problem is exacerbated by the fact that the subcontractor is not his own boss but is working, along with many others, to the main contractor. Payment for work done prior to the awarding of the subcontract will be made to unnominated subcontractors although those nominated will be deemed to have allowed for this cost in their bid.

Taking a lesson from the space experts
Article Abstract:
Three planning techniques are commonly used in construction projects. The most simple method is the Gantt or bar chart which plots operations in chronological order. It is easily constructed and understood but can be imprecise. The more complex critical path network method was developed by NASA. It involves identifying the relationships between operations and the time needed for each. Precedence diagrams add the period during which an operation can be done to the critical path network.
