Automatic data capture and its impact on productivity
Article Abstract:
Productivity improvement results among manufacturing firms that utilize automatic data capture systems. Human resource utilization, machine utilization, transporter utilization and inventory are areas of manufacturing that showed signs of improvement upon the implementation of automatic data capture systems. An automatic data capture system that is used to give information regarding deviations and changed in customer demand is seen to further enhance improvements made in such areas.

A conceptual model for disruption causes: a personnel and organization perspective
Article Abstract:
A model was created to investigate and resolve disruptions in manufacturing systems, particularly in firms utilizing just-in-time philosophy. The model utilizes technical system, work organization and labor stability to effectively characterize the occurrence of disruptions, such as downtime, rejects and speed losses, present in manufacturing systems. It illustrates that knowledge of disruption causes proved to be the best alternative in solving manufacturing system disruptions.

Productivity and flexibility: fundamental relations between two major properties and performance measures of the production system
Article Abstract:
Flexibility needs to be considered as part of the production transformation opportunities in order to effectively analyze its relationship with productivity. Such consideration makes flexibility an important aspect of the production set instead of being a product of interaction between transformation process and production environment. It also makes flexibility a generalization of measures related to productivity and substitutability.
