A TQM program was successfully implemented at Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Co. of America's plant in Newnan, GA. Key to this TQM is a total productive maintenance initiative, which encourages competence in several areas including education and training, industrial safety and automation. Promotion of team-building skills at the company's quality department further enhanced the structure of its quality program. An assessment of the plant's operations showed improvements in product review and measurement, and parts inspection processes.
