The proposed Biometric Identity Card project introduced in United Kingdom, to store personal and biometric information of citizens for identity-verification, received negative criticism from the industry experts. According to them, the technologies used to develop the system are not meeting the security and privacy standards.

Zone of silence
Article Abstract:
Limor Fried, a graduate student at the MIT Media Laboratory built the gadget 'Wave Bubble'as part of her thesis called "Social Defense Mechanisms: Tools for Reclaiming Our Personal Space." The gadget creates a 'Silence Zone' bubble of 4 meters diameter which jams the incoming calls for anyone sitting within the zone.
