Burn cleanser diesel
Article Abstract:
EMEX Corp of Lakewood, CO, has developed Blue Star S-2, a low-sulfur synthetic diesel fuel. The company claims that two key findings of tests conducted by Titan Laboratories showed the suitability of Blue Star S-2 for use in coventional diesel engines. First, the sulfur content did not exceed 30 ppm, making the fuel a possibe solution to standards that are set to take effect in 2004. Second, the fuel has a 53% higher cetane level than conventional fuel, which makes it burn cleaner.

Process removes sulfur from diesel fuel
Article Abstract:
Phillips Petroleum Co reports that it has successfully developed a sulfur- removal technology for diesel fuels. Labeled S Zorb SRT, the technology lowers sulfur content by using a proprietary refining process in which a regenerable sorbent chemically attracts sulfur and removes it from hydrocarbon streams. In addition, the S Zorb SRT for diesel process is able to reduce sulfur levels without significant hydrogen consumption.

Valve modification removes scale
Article Abstract:
ITT Industries offfers an optional modification to the Fabri-Valve ported slide gate valve. The modification removes the valve's scale that adheres to the valve interior in some heavy slurry services. Without the scale, compression reduced and problems with the clogging, binding and scaling are eliminated. ITT Industries offers the modification for bot manual and actuated valves.
