CPRE hears Labour's line on housing figures
Article Abstract:
Speakers at the 70th Anniversary AGM of the Council for the Protection of Rural England included Frank Dobson, shadow environment secretary. Dobson spoke of current housing levels, which will leave a shortfall of 1.7 million homes against the target of 4.4 million in 20 years. A Labour government would review current housing projections. CPRE president Jonathan Dimbleby claimed that housing projections would be a critical election issue.

Article Abstract:
There is little incentive for potential developers to invest time and money in pursuing planning applications unless the land can be bought and developed if the application is successful. However a sale contract conditional on the grant planning consent could ovecome the problem.
