Decision support tool for justifying alternative manufacturing and production control systems
Article Abstract:
A decision support tool designed to use an integrated approach in assisting decision makers in selecting the best alternative manufacturing and production control system for a certain situation is introduced. The approach incorporates economic, analytic and strategic justification techniques so that the benefits of each method can compensate for any setbacks in using only one method. The proposed integrated justification approach allows better understanding of each system and permits an assessment of their true value.

Developing a full business environment to support just-in-time logistics
Article Abstract:
The adoption of just-in-time (JIT) supply of bought out components in the automotive industry may necessitate the establishment of a business cycle that is supportive of the trading link. A full business cycle (FBC) consists of all the activities required to acquire products or services. Electronic Data Interchange is crucial to the viability of the JIT FBC. Implementation of an electronic FBC can also generate considerable cost savings when the FBC is integrated with company systems.
