Distribution free procedures for make-to-order (MTO), make-in-advance (MIA), and composite policies
Article Abstract:
The distribution procedures for make-to-order (MTO), make-in-advance (MIA), and composite policies in a singular period two echelon stochastic prototype with more practical premises is studied. The cost of MIA is normally less than in a rush work when clients are awaiting the transformation of materials into finished products. Moreover, one may miss the benefits of economy of scale and learning effects that are inclined to raise the cost under MTO.

Are push and pull systems really so different?
Article Abstract:
A study was conducted to analyze differences in the performance of production planning and control systems resulting from the use of push or pull information flows. Models of the material and information flows of push and pull systems were used to investigate conditions influencing performance. A set of decision rules was then utilized to operate the systems using different demand and inventory level information.
