For flexibility and versatility, choose the height gage
Article Abstract:
The height gage is a highly versatile and easy-to-use device that can perform external measurements such as diameter, thickness, length, and in some cases taper, on small parts with quick changeovers. The vital components include the base plate, stanchion, clamping mechanism and a mechanical or electronic comparator. A height gage may also provide archiving, analysis and process control functions by using a column-type, microprocessor-based electronic amplifier.

SPC, gage R&R, and CMMs
Article Abstract:
Gage repeatability and reproducibility (R&R) plays a major role in statistical process control. However, the benefits of gage R&R had been overlooked by many process control engineers who focused mainly on coordinate measuring machines. With the increased emphasis on quality brought about by competition, many companies began realizing the cost advantages of gage R&R. Several tips are given to help companies select and management gage R&R systems.
