Proprietary and open protocols: the trade offs
Article Abstract:
The operations of data communication equipment require a selection of which protocol to use, proprietary or open. A protocol is defined as sets of rule for communicating which are known to both ends of a communications system. Lower-level protocols are concerned with electrical and physical standards. Higher level protocols such as the open and proprietary deal with data format, message syntax, message sequencing and character sets. A discussion of the advantages of the open system over the proprietary protocol is also provided.

The lowdown on telecom layout
Article Abstract:
Various businesses big and small and non-profit entities such as schools, hospital and government agencies are dependent on communications network infrastructure to process their information flow. The planning of a telecommunications network system should start at the design process. This includes evaluation of workstation density, level of technology at every station and according to employee function. Growth projections should anticipate the needs of future users.
