Free software
Article Abstract:
Linux is an open source operating system developed by some 40,000 people who were not paid and it is given away at no cost. Some say Linux is better than Windows, with which it is in competition for some uses. An open source system is one for which anyone can have the source code, in which they are free to make changes. Developers have done the work for the art of it and for the glory of it, and it holds together because of an unwritten code dealing with what is right in obtaining glory. The motivation to do something of value without being paid is discussed.
