Generic organizational choices for logistics in decentralized organizations: implications for inventory management
Article Abstract:
A case study of inventory management in a big decentralized industrial firm highlights the problem of maximizing the advantages brought about by direct supervision from corporate headquarters while attending to the independent logistical needs of the firm. Each decentralized firm has its own set of customers, markets, products and marketing strategies. Synergy and conflict management strategies would play an important part in ensuring that inventory management in such a situation is carried out effectively.

A note on the convexity of the objective function for a simple common component inventory problem
Article Abstract:
The existence of convex objective function was validated for common component inventory problem's continuous demand distributions. Closed-form expression for the objective function was derived for demand distributions such as exponential and Erlang distributions. On the other hand, failure to derive closed-form expression for the objective function was noted when dealing with demand distributions such as normal distributions.
