How not to forfeit 2K Act protections
Article Abstract:
Companies need to be aware of Y2K prelitigation protections and actions necessary to protect them. The Y2K Act, which was signed into law on Jul 20, 1999, is meant to protect manufacturers and suppliers against Y2K-related lawsuits. Various preparations could be appropriate. For example, a company might benefit by changing the way it receives, reviews and replies to incoming mail. Another precaution might involve changing a Web site in such a way that Y2K-related messages are routed to an individual charged with the task of handling them rapidly and carefully. Yet another way to prepare might be to assume that litigation is probable and consulting with counsel ahead of time concerning how best to respond.
